A Langdock alternative needs a better reason than a lower price

Adding AI to your current tools and changing where your team works are different projects. Decide which one you need before comparing subscription prices.

The subscription looks cheaper. Then you realise the project board, document store and chat would have to move too.

That is the hidden question in a Langdock alternative search: are you buying another way to use AI, or choosing another place for the team to work? A price per person and a price per workspace do not describe the same change.

Follow one proposal through the comparison. It needs source material, a draft, a decision and a reply. Which of those steps are you actually trying to improve?

Start with what should stay

Write down where the team works today. Which application holds the authoritative project state? Where are decisions recorded? Which routines must remain intact during the AI rollout?

This prevents you from awarding points in a demonstration for features you do not intend to use. If your project management is staying, a second project system is not automatically a benefit.

Langdock is a candidate for organisations evaluating shared access to AI. Establish its current capabilities and deployment options directly with the vendor, starting with the Langdock product site.

A workspace changes more than the chat window

A shared workspace brings the proposal, its documents, conversations and approval into one working environment. Consider that move when reorganising the work is part of the project.

It also creates work. You need to decide which information moves, how open records continue and who maintains the new state. If everything important remains in the old system, another workspace may become another place somebody has to update.

Consider a proposal approval. To draft wording, the source material might stay where it is. Moving the approval, its task and the following handoff into a workspace changes the working process. Both projects can be useful. They should not disappear inside the same vague budget line called “introduce AI.”

Self-hosting is the beginning of an operating decision

Some teams look for alternatives because they want to host the application themselves. Put that requirement early in the selection. Which components need to run on your infrastructure? Where does the model process a request? Who installs updates and tests a restore from backup?

Server location alone does not settle these questions. A self-hosted application can still call an external model service. The actual data path depends on the configuration and services you agree to use.

Request written confirmation of the conditions for your organisation. Plans, minimum sizes and deployment options can change. For Pharen, the self-hosting and security pages provide a starting point. If a specific certificate is required, ask for the evidence and the scope it covers.

Price one month of real work

Use the same people, comparable usage and the same process in both estimates. Include subscriptions that will remain, setup effort and ongoing maintenance.

Someone occasionally rewriting a paragraph creates different demand from a workflow making repeated model calls. A cheap entry plan can suit a trial while saying little about the eventual operating cost.

Ask each vendor for a quote covering the actual scope. Treat the current Langdock pricing and Pharen pricing as inputs rather than a complete cost model. Include the migration work too, even when your own team will do it.

Give the switch a practical reason

Have someone complete a real piece of work in the proposed setup. Count what they prepare, copy and carry back afterwards. Check whether a colleague can then take it over.

If the goal is simply good access to AI, a wider reorganisation may be unnecessary. If the handoff itself is failing, the decision can reasonably extend beyond chat.

What the proposal would use in Pharen Hub

For the proposal, Pharen Hub offers Projects for the work and its context, Agents for preparation with defined sources, and Workflows for review and approval. You would agree the information and decision steps before configuring the process. These capabilities matter if the proposal itself is moving into the workspace; they add little if you only want a different chat window.

Ask us to demonstrate your proposal workflow, including the tools you would keep.
